Watching the madness

Welcome to my often warped assessment of the news.  I found myself including items in my “Love versus Goliath” page  that really didn’t belong there, so consider this a spin-off site!

I am a very happily married (took a long time and a few attempts to find the right man) woman who works in IT but has recently developed political ambitions.  I never saw myself as a politician, but I have found age and experience brings a different perspective to what we see happening around us – sometimes that perspective engenders a crazy desire to want to drive change!

This photo of me is a long time ago – roughly 1975 I believe.  So why include it here?  To illustrate the passage of time.  All of us change over time.  When that photo was taken I was young, in love, inspired by the future and had recently been orphaned and as a result moved countries.  I was not yet 20, yet a lot had already happened in my life.

I’m still inspired by the future and I am definitely in love.  What has changed?  I’ve realised, through experience, that life isn’t always lovely for other people.  I’ve learnt that while the majority of people are wonderful human beings, some can be racist, xenophobic, ignorant, greedy, unethical, lack integrity: the list goes on.  Too often such people are in positions of power when they shouldn’t be.  So we live and learn.  We become wiser as we age.  Things are no longer so black and white; we learn there are often shades of grey.

My perspective on the workings of the world around us may be different to yours.  I do not expect agreement.  I hope I can, in some small way, encourage people to think and to question what is happening in our world.
